Zimbabwe holidays
Serene lakeside lodges. Acres of untamed wilderness. Friendly, welcoming locals. Incredible wildlife. And one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. Welcome to Zimbabwe…
This south-east African nation offers up wild beauty in spades. Our Zimbabwe tour whisks you to its peaceful lakes, tranquil waterways and unspoilt national parks, giving you the chance to dine under star-filled skies, watch burnt-orange sunsets, feel the spray of Victoria Falls and witness wildlife encounters straight out of ‘Planet Earth’. We also spend a couple of nights in Zimbabwe on our southern Africa Cruise & Tour holiday, which combines Victoria Falls with a South African safari and a cruise from Cape Town to Mozambique and back.
When it comes to safaris, Zimbabwe isn’t as well known as the likes of Kenya and South Africa – but that’s all part of its appeal. Game reserves here see just a fraction of the visitors you might get in Kruger or the Maasai Mara, so it’s often just you, your group and the wildlife. You’ll have the chance to spy the Big Five, plus plenty more besides – think giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and all manner of birdlife.
More information about Zimbabwe
Our Zimbabwe holidays have been designed to showcase the country’s natural beauty and allow you the best opportunities to spot wildlife. Being a small group (there’ll be a maximum of 16 guests on each departure) lets us stay in some unique lodges and homely guest houses. It also means we can spend three nights on our own small cruise boat, sailing on serene Lake Kariba and taking smaller tender boats along narrow waterways to look for wildlife.
Or, you can combine a couple of nights by Victoria Falls with a tour of South Africa and a journey on one of the world's most luxurious trains, Rovos Rail's Pride of Africa.
On both, you’ll be accompanied by a Titan tour manager throughout, on hand to give you local insight and make sure everything runs smoothly and safely. As with all of our holidays, you’ll enjoy our VIP door-to-door travel service to take you from home to the airport. Your driver will be waiting at the airport on your return too – a welcome sight after the long flight back from Zimbabwe.
Our Cruise & Tour holiday allows you to combine the majesty of Victoria Falls with a South African safari and a luxurious cruise. You'll enjoy VIP transfers as usual, a tour manager for the first part of the holiday (you'll be looked after by your ship's crew for the second portion), and some unforgettable included excursions (think stargazing dinners in the bush and sunset cruises on the Zambezi).
Where do I fly to for Zimbabwe holidays?
Our Zimbabwe tours currently fly in to Harare and home from Victoria Falls. Tracks of Africa flies into Johannesburg and home from Victoria Falls. Our Cruise & Tour holiday flies in to Victoria Falls; you'll then head on to South Africa for the next part of the trip. For the most up-to-date flight options, speak to one of our travel advisors. Flight time from London to Zimbabwe is approximately 13 hours.
What are the hotel options?
You’ll stay in a real mix of places on our tour – small, friendly safari lodges, a tented camp in Hwange National Park and a small boat chartered exclusively for our group. For details, take a look at the tour itinerary or speak to one of our travel advisors. The Zimbabwe part of Tracks of Africa and our Cruise & Tour holiday is based in a fantastic lodge surrounded by glorious national park scenery.
What’s the local transport like?
We get around by road, rail and water on our Zimbabwe tour. Bigger distances are covered by coach, while game drives and water safaris are taken on smaller vehicles and tender boats. On our last full day, we’ll enjoy a rail journey to Victoria Falls on a restored steam train – a fantastic finale to our trip.
